Family-law attorney, Long Beach. In California the core disclosures are the Income & Expense Declaration (FL-150), the Schedule of Assets and Debts (FL-142), and the Declaration of Disclosure cover sheet (FL-140). You exchange them with your spouse — they're not filed with the court at the preliminary stage. The trap I see most often: people leave the IRA or 401(k) off the FL-142 because they think it 'isn't really theirs.' If it has your name on it, it goes on the form. Missing assets is the single most common reason a judgment gets thrown out years later.
Generally speaking, financial disclosures are forms where each spouse lists what they earn, own, and owe, so everything is on the table before the divorce is finalized. Your attorney will tell you exactly which ones your case needs and when.
