Two tools, fast. (1) A 'stay of execution' — you file an ex parte motion (CA CCP §1179) asking the court for 5-40 more days to move based on hardship. You'd typically need to pay something (a deposit, daily rent) into court. Granted often, especially for families with kids, elderly, or disabled household members. (2) If you're in active bankruptcy or file bankruptcy before the lockout, the automatic stay halts the eviction temporarily — but only some bankruptcies effectively pause eviction once judgment is entered, and the strategy has trade-offs.
