Two angles to check: (1) Is the unit covered by a just-cause law (CA AB 1482 or local equivalent)? If yes, the landlord needs a permitted reason and most jurisdictions don't allow no-fault non-renewal of long-term tenancies. (2) Is this discrimination against your family status (familial status)? Federal Fair Housing Act and state law prohibit refusing to rent because someone has children. If the timing and stated reasons suggest the baby is the reason, that's a fair-housing complaint. File with HUD (free, online) and your state DFEH/CRD. Both processes also can pause the move-out timeline. Tenant-defense clinic this week.
