Roommate moved out and I can't make rent alone

Lease has both our names. He left and stopped paying his half. Landlord doesn't care, they're chasing me. Am I really on the hook for all of it?

Yes — co-tenants are usually jointly and severally liable. You can sue him in small claims for his share, but the landlord can still collect the full rent from you. Ugly situation.
