Honest: U visa waits are long. The annual cap is 10,000 principal visas. Petitioners are placed on a waitlist and granted 'deferred action' + employment authorization while they wait. Current waitlist for the principal U visa itself is in the 5-7 year range from filing. The interim work authorization is the practical benefit — it usually comes within 2-3 years of filing. Adjustment to LPR comes 3 years after U visa grant. It's a slow road but a real one. Stay current on your filings and address updates.
