Tax filing status while divorce is pending

We separated in February. He wants to file married filing jointly. I want married filing separately. Whose decision is this?

If you were still married on Dec 31, you can file either jointly or married-filing-separately — it's a personal decision, not his. Run the numbers both ways. Sometimes MFS costs less than the savings from MFJ if there's a refund fight ahead.
