Default judgment — what does that actually mean for me

I missed the 30 day deadline because I was hospitalized. Now there's a default. Did I lose the whole case? Am I cooked?

You can ask the court to set aside the default. There's a form for it. The hospital records help. Talk to your local self-help center — they walk people through this all the time.
