He filed for a restraining order against me too — 'mutual' orders allowed?

I filed first. Now he's filed against me. Will the court just issue mutual orders to be safe?

CA Family Code §6305 specifically prohibits 'mutual' restraining orders without both parties presenting written evidence of abuse AND a court finding that BOTH acted as primary aggressors and neither acted primarily in self-defense. In practice that means cross-orders are rare when the evidence is clearly one-sided. The other side's filing is a common counter-tactic; the court will evaluate each petition on its own merits. Be prepared to address the allegations in his petition specifically — don't ignore them.
